Therapy is more than just talking through your problems; it’s a collaborative relationship between the therapist and the client. Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Markeena Gilbert, a Licensed Professional Counselor, also known as a Psychotherapist. I am a Christian, compassionate, attentive, and dedicated to helping clients discover new ways to navigate challenges, heal past wounds, and transform their lives.
With over 16 years of experience in the field, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, offering support and guidance through various issues and disorders. My journey in counseling began at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where I earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and Bachelor's degree in Community Education.
Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teenagers, college students, and adults, gaining valuable experience as a Treatment Foster Parent, Adoption Parent, In-home and Outpatient Therapist. Currently, I continue to serve clients through my private practice and within an agency for over a decade. In addition to continuing education within the field.
I provide therapy services exclusively through telehealth (video), aiming to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals of all backgrounds can thrive and grow.
My therapeutic approach is influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Spiritual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (S-CBT), and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). I also incorporate techniques from Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Mindfulness, Assertiveness Training, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Grief Counseling.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling with symptoms that seem beyond your control, I invite you to reach out. Together, we will work on strategies to address the root causes of your challenges and cultivate meaningful social connections that support your well-being.
Let’s embark on this journey of healing and growth together.
